North East IT specialist Croft Technology has completed a contract for a leading national engineering group.
Croft has been working with British Engines Limited to implement a range of new IT services following the firms’ recent relocation to a larger facility in Cramlington. Croft was responsible for the implementation of a new IT infrastructure, a Voice over Protocol (VoIP) network, a new IT suite, telephone and data facilities and a range of software solutions.
Through the use of the VoIP system, all of British Engines’ telephony services are now transmitted via the internet as opposed to traditional phone lines. This lowers call cost, reduces the cost of ownership and improves productivity through the hot-desking facility which allows mobile staff to retrieve call and messages from any phone on site. The new infrastructure also ensures that British Engines has the facilities to quickly and simply add additional communication tools onto the network.
Jeremy MacIver, IT Manager at British Engines, commented: “This is the first project we have worked with Croft on and I have been very satisfied with both the service provided and their knowledge of the systems supplied. We now have a strong platform on which to enhance the ICT services we provide to our CMP division.” Croft won the contract through a competitive pitch and was selected for the project due to its expertise in Unified Communications - a rapidly growing business trend which tears down the barriers between telecommunications and computing. The firm also has strong links with technology partners Microsoft, Cisco and Mitel.
Iain Kennair, Enterprise Account Manager at Croft, said: “This was a very challenging project but by utilising our project management expertise we were able to complete to contract within the required timeframe. The infrastructure at British Engines will now allow a range of other communications tool to be effectively implemented onto the network to ensure that the business continues to grow and strengthen its resources.”
