Support for the 21st Century Classroom

A leading North East IT specialist has helped launch a new service to assist teachers and students in the classroom.

Newcastle based Croft Technology recently launched NetOp School, a comprehensive software package which helps teachers prepare for lessons, enhance teaching methods in the classroom and grade work through networked teaching and remote management.

NetOp School works through networked classrooms (where all PCs and laptops are all connected to a single network), allowing the teacher access to all computers in the classroom. This enables teachers to instruct students by broadcasting their screen (or any students screen) to every PC in the classroom simultaneously, giving students a front-row seat and first hand instructions.

The programme can also be used to monitor students’ progress as they work, assist students, control what applications can be viewed and used, distribute and collect documents from students and create and perform regular tests with immediate individual feedback.

Mick Keeble, Business Development Director at Croft, commented: “As technology advances, using conventional teaching tools in the classroom is becoming increasingly difficult. NetOp School is an economical and easy to use solution offering a new level of interaction and allowing teachers to instruct each student individually, yet simultaneously.”

He added: “It is important that organisations have the tools and support necessary to manage and maintain their IT networks and NetOp School is one of the only programmes on the market that allows this methodology to be implemented into the classroom. “

Earlier this year Croft became the only North East firm and one of only 20 UK companies to be awarded gold partnership status by global IT manufacturer NetOp. NetOp, a subsidiary of Danware, is an international industry leader in remote management. The software is designed to deal with unplanned events, providing a complete package for remote management of computers and networked devices as well as proactive maintenance of software and hardware. It is also used for remote system administration and helpdesk environments.

Mike Kibblewhite, Managing Director of NetOp said; “The synergy between NetOp and Croft was apparent from the start. Their focus on customers, market knowledge and their ability to penetrate the North East region means that NetOp will be able to reach customers outside of its current remit. We are delighted to work with such an exceptional team and this relationship gives us an opportunity to deliver real benefits to schools and businesses in the region."
